Single folded Victorian letter with readable address. Featuring a penny red stamp and contemporary postmark. Produced for many years from 1841 these replaced the Penny Black as it was easier to see that they had been postmarked.
These envelopes are miniature reproductions of old letters, which look as if they have been freshly delivered. At this time envelopes were not always used, instead the sheet of paper that the letter was written on was folded up, sealed together and the address written on the outside. These envelopes are constructed just like the real thing and glued together. They do NOT open
